The adequacy of a translation is essentially determined by the translator’s competence. Translators seize conceptual entities in a source text and transfer them into a target language while observing the customs and conventions of the target culture. Competent translation work involves more than just mastering one or more foreign languages, since each language represents a culture and each cultural community has its idiosyncrasies. To a native speaker of the target language, a well-done translation should always read like an original text.

Once you get down to communicating your ideas, you’ll want the message to be understood – you’ll want a text to work. A skillfully worded and appealing text holds a value which should not get lost in translation. In the age of universal communication, your success will greatly depend on how much importance you attach to an adequate presentation of your ideas, strategies and products in the languages of this world.
